US Mail, return addresses photographed
Submitted by: Bill, , Age: 36
Mr. Luna, you once mentioned something about the outside of all US Mail being "photographed". Can you tell us more about this? How is it done (for example, address OCR scanning)? Where is it done? Where are the images stored, or is only text stored?
JJ Luna Responds:
The information came from a meeting I had with Ron Wiener, the chief executive of a paperless mail service called DocumentCommand, in Beaverton, Oregon. Ron told me that all US mail is "photographed in the front but not in the back." Although no details were given, I assume he knew what he was talking about, since one of the board members of DocumentCommand is Dr. Kenneth Lynn, former Assistant Postmaster General, Logistics, of the United States Postal Service.comments powered by Disqus
