Write My SSN for Bonus Points?

Submitted by: Dana, Memphis, TN      Age: 16
Hello, I'm a student in highschool, and a few months ago while taking a test, my Drivers Ed. teacher announced that if we wrote our social security numbers on our tests from then on, we'd get 4 bonus points added to our grade. I asked him why, and his explanation was that "a lot of kids don't know their ssn and need to learn it." Of course I didn't write mine and told my friends not to. Everybody else in the class wrote theirs without thinking twice. I just thought this was weird, what do you think?

JJ Luna Responds:

I think you are a smart young lady, and you did a fine favor to your friends by your warning.

As for the Driver's Ed teacher, that was weird indeed. Further, his explanation makes no sense. I suspect there is some other reason.
