Thomas - note #9043

Re: Thomas (note #9043) Most of the "safes" sold under the heading "safe" are fire safes, they are not meant to offer anything but protection from a fire, they are not heavy enough to prevent a burglar from removing them, nor are they anchored to the residence (to prohibit removal).

To see an example of a safe that is secure Google AMSEC B1816 Floor Safe. If it is placed in cement (such as a garage floor) and covered by an alarm system it will give you more than adequate protection.

Oh, and JJ Luna is right, hiding the location is a big plus, but if they find the safe in spite of your best efforts to hide it then you will wish you had a "burglar chest", one that will stand up to an attack longer than the amount of time they have before the burglar alarm brings the police.

JJ Luna Responds:

The safe you mention is very expensive, whereas can safes and diversion safes are about $15 each. Further, you can use as many different ones as you wish.
